Source Description
Peter Libby, in executing the will of his deceased sister, Abigail Libby, forwards the sum of $3 which she had bequeathed to be devoted to anti-slavery causes to Garrison for payment of a subscription to the Liberator, which Libby intends to "read and circulate". In addition, Libby forwards the sum of $2, which his sister had left to be devoted to the "cause of Peace", to Garrison for payment for his nonresistance paper. Libby opines that these causes, though encountering strong opposition, are both on the advance. Libby states that both abolition and pacifism were dear causes to his late sister, and that a letter of thanks written to her by Garrison (for her previous contribution of $1 towards the abolitionist cause) "drew tears of sympathy from her eyes".
