This item contains a copy of a hymn, suspected to be sent to Amos A. Phelps. The annotation on verso states that this is a hymn sung by blacks “on the island opp. Charleston.” A note below the hymn says the hymn contains a few words used by the slaves “for which English owns [some?] substitutes.”
