Source Description
Hiram Cummings writes to Amos A. Phelps that he was unsuccessful in persuading George W. Johnson to accept the nomination for Governor. Johnson does not believe he is suited for the nomination because he is new to the state, but says he will devote himself for the third party. Cummins suggests that Phelps try to persuade him to accept the nomination. In a segment added later, Cummings urges Phelps to attend “the Barnstable Co. meeting,” saying that he himself would not be able to attend it due to illness.
