Black and white seated studio portrait of Samuel B. Pierce. Subject is a Caucasian male sitting with body facing right and head turned slightly toward the front. Subject has thin dark hair on crown of head with full, curly dark hair on sides with left ear visible. Subject has dark moustache and goatee with hair tuft on lower lip. Subject wears an unbuttoned, double-breasted medium-colored coat with two buttons and four buttonholes visible. Coat has taped edges and darker collar. Subject also wears a buttoned vest and trousers of same color, white collar, and dark neckwear white edges and round tie-tack/button at throat. Watch chain and fob visible on right side of vest. Cuffs of coat have two bands of trim. Subject is sitting next to a cloth-covered table, his right arm and hand resting on it and his left hand resting on his left thigh.
