Document source description

Looking across Lake Nemi in the Alban Hills southeast of Rome, one sees the medieval village of Nemi. The lake, nestled in the crater of a volcano, is seldom ruffled by the wind, and has received the epithet, "The Mirror of Diana." The painting appears to be a companion to the "View of Castel Gandolfo," Walters 37.1752.
