The painting depicts 13 episodes in the life of Buddha. As with Thai paintings these episodes begin at the bottom of the painting and move towards the top: 1. Gotoma accepts a mess of rice from Sujata2. Gotama casts his bowl into the river 3. Sutthiya gives Gotama grass to sit upon4. The lesson of the three strings5. Mara's daughters temp the Buddha 6. Calling the earth to witnesses 7. Buddha Seated in the Jeweled House (?)8. Sutatta pays homage to Buddha (116) 9. Conversion of the three Kassapas10. Five monks become Buddha's disciples (?)11. Five monks become Buddha's disciples (?)12. Unknown 13. The miracle at Shravasti14. Inscription
