Document source description
Between 1910 and 1940, the Dutch pottery company De Porceleyne Fles produced “Nieuw-Delfts” (New-Delft). These decorative wares were inspired by a variety of Persian and Ottoman ceramics made between the 13th and 17th centuries. In some cases the New-Delft wares directly copied earlier ceramics from the Islamic world that were shown in early 20th-century European exhibitions and museum displays, while other designs borrowed and adapted Persian and Ottoman motifs and styles of decoration.
