Pendant with Pelican and Frogs

late 19th century 4 3/8 in. (11.11 cm) Citation Source image

A pelican plucking her breast to feed her young is the central motif in this Renaissance revival brooch. The design appears to have been based on a pendant attributed to Corbinian Saur, a goldsmith working in Augsburg during the early 16th century.
