Document source description

The side arms of this altar cross carry portraits of the four evangelists. The central, vertical beam has on one side the Annunciation, Baptism, Sts. Peter and Paul, and the Transfiguration, and on the other, the Presentation of Christ in the Temple, Crucifixion, Deposition and Resurrection. The ornaments on the sides, shaped like leaves and branches, represent the Tree of Jesse (family tress of Christ), with various Old Testament figures shows in medallions as ancestors of Christ. The youthful Jesus and the Virgin are seen on the two sides of the top ornament.
