Document source description

Around the sides of the "drum" case of this table clock are engraved personifications of the ancient cardinal (philosophical) virtues of Temperance, Fortitude, Prudence, and Justice, and two of the theological virtues, Faith and Charity. Only Hope is missing. The case of this clock was personalized for its owner by the addition on the base of an engraved coat of arms (possibly the Strozzi arms of crescent moons quartered with unidentified arms) and the motto SEMPER, Latin for "forever."
