Left profile portrait of a man identified in the engraved inscription on the reverse as Dr. Charles Gordon Patterson wearing a black coat, high black collar, and white ruffled jabot. The miniature is in a Tiffany frame. The frame and inscription match that of WAM 38.490. This may depict the sitter's wife.Lambdin studied with Thomas Wilcocks Sully (1811-1847), the renowned portraitist in Philadelphia, and established himself as a miniaturist in the same city.
