This vase has a light blue ground and is decorated with a relief in white known as domestic employment after designs by Lady Elizabeth Templetown. After many experiments Wedgwood perfected jasperware in 1775. The use of a shallow relief in white on a colored ground was inspired by ancient Roman cameo glass.
