This bowl is an incised and pierced fritware or stone-paste bowl. Similar material from the 12th to the 14th century has been found at Kashan, Rayy and Gurgan. The body of the bowl has a pierced pattern that was then filled with translucent glaze that allows light to pass through. The interior center has a cobalt blue goose with incised decoration. The bowl was purchased from the Armenian collector and dealer Dikran Kelekian by Henry Walters.
