Source Description

A carved ivory netsuke of a puppy, gourd plant, and snow protectorA standard (oblong) gold lacquer four compartment inro. Hotei on one side seated in a cart, accompanied by a crane behind the cart, under a plum tree. On the opposite two standing karako, with a crane behind them, with one of the boys carrying a banner. The design in takamakie in gold and a bronze-like lacquer with touches of red and inlaid ivory on the karako and Hotei all on a ground of fundame in gold. The interior in nashiji and fundame. Inscribed on the bottom of the lower case in gold and a red lacquer tsubo seal. The cord channels are internal.
