Document source description

Both through the emphasis on horizontal elements and the use of striation (as in the band between the hair and the forehead), this striking image attempts to re-create some of ideals of classic Cambodian sculpture, which had earlier been widespread in central Thailand. In the 14th and 15th centuries, Thai Buddhists could choose to make an image following the ideals of the new Sukhothai style or one in a modified Cambodian style.
