Document source description
This is a fragment of a flat leather object. It may have been a book cover, but since no trace of boards or backing survives, this is problematic. The design was an all-over pattern of contiguous circles, painted in green with yellow outlines upon a deep red ground. A palmette was framed in each circle and a stylized floral design filled the interstices. A broad border used a "beaded" edging abnd stylized acanthus leaves painted in yellow outline.
