Seated Cat
Frémiet first exhibited animal subjects at the Paris Salon in 1843. Eventually, he succeeded Antoine-Louis Barye (French, 1796-1875) as professor of drawing at the Jardin des Plantes, a botanical and zoological park in Paris.
