Source Description
The two handles and round spout on this round flask are tilted in an unusual angle. A circular bottom was added to one side, allowing it to be placed on a table without spilling its contents. The surface is covered in a deep blue glaze with gold leaves and diamond patterns. The decoration is known as lajvardina ware, making reference to the Persian word for lapis lazuli, a deep blue stone that often has inclusions of gold-like pyrite. The surface is cracked, and there are areas of dirt.
