Document source description
This soaring shrine was designed to hold images of the Buddha, relics, or scriptures. Constructed from multiple sections of a hardwood, likely teak, the pagoda was assembled using wooden pegs, nails, and other traditional wood-joining techniques. Its golden surface is a result of the application of multiple layers of gold-toned lacquer that was used as an adhesive for layers of gold leaf.
