Document source description
By the 18th century, jun (copper oxide) wares of the Song dynasty (960–1279) had become highly prized for their innovative use of copper oxide to yield the color purple. Many jun pieces were collected in the Qing imperial treasury. This vase displays a popular jun glaze design that was revived from the Song dynasty: it is glazed with robin’s egg blue with splashes of purple.
