Document source description
This tapestry square can be interpreted as a representation of Europa and the Bull. Europa holds a small bird in her raised right hand. Nereids and dancers holding staffs surround the central medallion. The myhological scene is rendered in a very schematic form. A similar example is in the collection of the Brooklyn Museum of Art ( acc. n. 41.800). The extreme geometrization is characteristic of textiles made after the Muslim conquest.
