Document source description
This pillar fragment is carved with various stylized motifs, including star swirls that can be found throughout Western Europe, especially in Italy, at this time. It is identical to a pillar fragment from southern Italy. As it is decorated on all four sides, it was intended to be free-standing, perhaps as part of a portal.
