    "description": "The casket has been veneered in a technique known in Russia as \"Roman mosaic.\" Very thin sheets of malachite are cemented to the metal base, and any spaces left between the sheets are filled with a paste consisting of pulverized stone and cement. The surface is then polished. The artisans often exploited the veining of the stone to create symmetrical patterns by juxtaposing sheets cut from the same stone.",
