This medallion or cameo is of light blue jasperware with a lapidary polished edge. The subject is the three graces: the daughters of Zeus and the attendants of Aphrodite. The subject is taken from a carnelian intaglio in the collection of the King of Naples that had likely been reproduced by the famous maker of cameos and intaglios, James Tassie. In the original design the central figure is nude, here she is draped.
