Document source description

The griffin's head, cast in solid gold, must once have formed part of a necklace. A loop attached to the head between the horns lets the piece swing freely on a second gold loop attached to a tubular gold bead. The elegant stylization of the fierce beast is typically Achaemenid (the style of the ancient Persian Empire).
