Document source description
This nephrite bowl is a tour de force in the art of the lapidary. It is so thinly cut and so finely polished that it appears translucent against the light. For decorative purposes, Fabergé much more frequently used nephrite, a dark green mineral species of jade found in Siberia, than the more rare jadeite.
