This type of burgonet is distinguished by a movable peak over the eyes, reinforced with protective eye shades, and a visor with cut-outs for the eyes and holes for the nose and mouth. It is sometimes called "Savoyard" from the helmets worn by the troops of the duke of Savoy that launched a night attack on the city of Geneva, Switzerland, in 1602.
