Document source description
This tiny folding diptych is in the form of a prayerbook, which opens to reveal four biblical scenes to be "read" as meditations. On the left, two Old Testament episodes- the Temptation of Adam and Eve, and the Expulsion from the Garden of Eden- are set across from two New Testament stories- the Annunciation, and the Adoration of the Magi. The sin of Adam and mankind's fall from grace is redeemed by the granting of God's grace in the incarnation of the Word (at the Annunciation) and the universal recognition of Christ's divinity.
