Source Description
This tablet provides evidence for the early date of private land ownership in the city-state of Isin. It lists 17 purchases of land from multiple sellers by one buyer. The text is divided into compartments, arranged in 15 columns on the front and back. The inscriptions probably summarize transactions initially recorded on clay tablets. Permanent records on stone were displayed in the temple, under the protection of the gods.
