Source Description

On the right side of this mountain, two men climb towards to mountain huts at the upper right. They are dressed in Chinese style clothing, but the roofs of the hut are depicted as Japanese farm houses. A mountain peak is shown at the upper left. On the reverse, a man carries a gourd on a bamboo pole. This tsuba may represent a specific story or be a generalized reference to the theme of scholars visiting each other. The band around the edge of the tsuba is carved in a stylized wood grain pattern.
