Acquired by Ambroise Firmin-Didot, Paris, ca. 1875 [3]; Firmin-Didot Sale, Paris, June 9-15 1881, no. 63; purchased by member of Didot family. Purchased by Henry Yates Thompson, England, 1896 [4]. Acquired by Léon Gruel, Paris; purchased by Henry Walters, Baltimore, after 1907; by bequest to Walters Art Museum, 1931.[1] Pasted onto front pastedown: deed inscribed with partly extant date identified as 1682, bearing two stamps citing Tours and price of 10 sous; below, partly effaced, two names added later, lower one 'Monsieur du Vassy' (?).[2] Armorial bookplate of count of Clermont-Gallerande family pasted on top of deed, 17th or 18th century.[3] Made available to Gaston Paris for printed edition of 1879-80[4] Thompson Collection Number: Ms. 43
