Fuchi with Dragon and Waves

19th century (Edo-Meiji) H: 1 1/2 in. (3.8 cm) Citation Source image

The gold body of a dragon swimming through waves covers the front of the fuchi. Dragons are associated with water, so are often depicted in clouds or waves. They are a popular motif for sword fittings. This is part of a mounted set.
