Document source description

In the interior of the bowl are raised figures of crowned Sirins, boys holding tridents with fish, and Russian double-headed eagles. Sirins also appear on the bowl's foot. The rim of the bowl is edged with white enamels simulating the pearls, which are found on the borders of 17th century icon oklads. A Russian inscription beneath the rim reads: From the Grateful and Appreciative GG and the Contractors of the Construction Department , May 20, 1901, Respectfully to Claudius Osipovich and Maria Nikolaevna Giraud.
