The shogun has sent an envoy (right) to Lord Enya Hangan, ordering that as punishment for his rash behavior in attacking Moronao, Hangan must take his own life. Hangan declares his regret that he had not killed the man. "I vow that I shall be born and die, again and again, until at last I am avenged."
