Triptych: Tsunawatari karuwaza hyoban
The artist pokes fun at the tightrope walking fad of the 1860s by presenting a veritable traffic jam. Seventeen people vie for space on the four overlapping ropes. Distracted by the confusion, the woman at right does not seem to be aware that someone is peeking up her kimono!
