A similar pear-shaped cross in Addis Ababa (capital of modern Ethiopia) has at its center the crucified Christ, reflecting the larger meaning of the \"pear\" shape as a type of \"mandorla\" (almond-shaped halo) used to glorify images of the Lord.",
