My dear Miss Alschier: I am very glad that a member of the Committee was able to go to Brownsville, and may I a.kk you to act as Supervising Nurse while the Red Cross nurses are on duty there. I am sending you to-day by express:- Capes Collars 4 Caps 24 Dresses 18 Aprons Brassards 12 May I ask you to be responsible for this equipment and to 20 12 return the same to this office at the expiration of your service in Brownsville. Will you write to me a.s soon a.s possible, telling me of the work and what arrangements have been made for your living quar- tors and food. I ão hope that you will be comfortable and find the work interesting. I shall expect you to sond ne an efficiency report of the nurses at the expiration of the service and should any question of discipline arise please do not hesitate to act promptly and if necessary wire to me for authority to return the nurse to her home: It is nosti important in these assignacións of Red Cross nurses to duty that there be no opportunity for criti- cism of their general conduct, and I ehall rely upon you to safe- guard in every way the interests of the Reil Cross. I am hoping that Mr. Morris, the Acting Director, may go to Brownsville a little later and if so, I feel sure that you can rely upon him for any advise and assistance.
