D 5 MIDWESTERN BRANCH OFFICE D Mrs Elsbeth Vaughan, Asst Dir. May 9, 1927 lursing Service : Miss Glara D Noyes In regard to Mies Ablschier! trip to Burope, it would e give me grent pleasure to be of some assigtance to her in estab- lishing interesting connectione. I regret, however, that the Red Bross system in nearly ell of these countries is 80 totally differ- common ent from ours that we have but little in except in general principles. In England the Red Croes has no nursing service, I believe, except à volunteer one known se the V.A.D's In France it is more or lese the same, but/ I do hope that Mise Ahlechier will vieit the American Nursest Memorial at Bordeaux. if she wishes to go there I shall be very glad to give her a letter of introduction to Dr Hamilton, who 1 am eure woul be charmed to have her as a guest. There ie a special guest room for American nurses. In Italy I could establish some interesting connections. In ungland, of couree, 1 hope she will vieit the headquarters of the National Council of Trained Nursee of Great Britain. This ie the organization that is affiliated with the International Council of Nurses. The College of Nursing ie not admitted directãz, but thru this Society. I would be glad to give her a letter of intro- cuetion to Miss H S Douglas, who was w th us 80 long at National neadquarters, and who is now connected with the International Branch of the emerican Associ tion of University Women, at 4 Rue de Chevreuse, Paris, You will recall that s& our old hesdquarters. There are quite a number of American nurses in Parie, whose names I shall be glad to give her. I hope, however, that she is planning to go up to Geneva, Switzerland at the time of the Interim Conference of the International Gouncil of Nurses, which comes the week of July 25th, at that time I hope to be there with Miss Miss Clayton, Mise Francis, Miss Lawler and possibly other American nurses of whom I have not as yet heard who are plan ing to be present. If she wishes to do something very unusual in the way of travel I shall be glad to give her letters to Miss Bridge in arsaw, Poland, Miss Goff in Sofie, Bulgaria, aleo to our nurses in Constantinople and Greece. I am. sure that all of these nurses would be delighted, to entertain her in the nurses! residence. Let me know if any of theee suggestions can be of use to her and I will follow them up. I - Very truly yours S + 0 n.h National Dirsctor, Nursing Service
