My dear Miss Beale:
Thank you so much for your letter of explanation concerning
the wire you received from San Francisco. It is still a mystery to me
how the Commandant of the Twelfth Naval District got your names as
we had not reported either you nor Miss Byfield at the time you re-
ceived the wire.
However, now that you and Miss Byfield have undoubtedly
received your appointment letter at this time advising that you be
in San Francisco by April 10, I think the matter is settled.
Please advise immediately if this date is satisfactory for
you as we are proceeding with our travel notifications for you and Miss
Byfield as of that date.
