Best 637 No. King St. Xenia, Onio mati M ? 3 My dear Mrs. Best: e Your physica. has been approved by our Red Cross medical advisor and we are now in a position to offer you an appointment as MJ Staff Nurse with one of the civilian emergenuy hospitals in the How- aiian. Islands which is under the jurisdiction of the Emergency Medical M and Hospital Service of The Territorial Office of Civilian Defense in the Territory of Hawaii. Tnis position carries the salary of $112.50 per month, including full maintenance and the laundering of your uni- forms. Your salary will start from the time you take your Oath of office in San Francisco, as will also the terms of your employment with the Office of Civilian Defense, in accordance with the employment regu- lations enclosed. As you have noted, we have advised you to take your oan hospital cape. however, we shall supply you with three Red Cross caps and eight Red Cross insignia to be worn on your uniforms. These are now being sent from our Supply Department and should reach you within a short time, This equipment is in the form of a loan and you will be expected to return it to this office whenever you terminate your service there. The required immunizations are smallpox, triple typhoid and tetanus toxoid. If you have not been vaccinated for smalipox within the past year, a repeat vaccination is advised. As both the tetanus and typhoid inoculations are given in a series several weeks, you to start thepe at once.
