Miss Ida Maude Britton,
The Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital,
Hastings, Nebraska
My dear Miss Britton:
Thank you for your letter of February 7. I very much regret
having to tell you that we cannot have our hospital ready for service
before July; therefore, it is very unlikely that our nursing staff will
sail before June. Perhaps in your cast this is a good thing. However,
we fully realize how disturbing the uncertainty must be to our nursesg
but under existing conditions it is to be expected
Your uniform will be made according to the measurement blank
that you submitted. Any minor alterations can be taken care of by
your local tailor but for any major alteration your suit will have
to go back to the tailor in New York. it is necessary that receipts
accompany parcels on uniforms be signed and returned inmediately to
this office.
I do hope that conditions at your hospital have settled somewhat.
Let us hear from you.
Sincerely yours,
Gertrude Madley's
Chief Nurse,
American Red Cross-
Harvard Hospital Unit.
