THE MARY LANNING MEMORIAL HOSPITAL
Hastings, Nebraska
a
Feb. 7, 1941
Miss Gertrude Madley,
Chief Nurse,
American Red Cross-Harvard Hospital Unit,
Washington, D. C.
Dear Miss Madley:
I am very sorry I was unable to send by return mail the information you
asked for in your letter of Jan. 31.
The Superintendent of the hospital as well as the Superintendent of nurses
here submitted their resignations on Jan. 28. Due to the disruption there was
some doubt as to the continuance or the school, and 1 hesitated a few days in goihg
on with these more final plans. However, the matter is becoming more settled now, and
I am very happy to continue the preparations for leaving.
I am including the measurement blank rilled out, and a separate sheet containing
the personsl information asked for.
The plan to have my final physical examination in New York is satisfactory with
me. Of course, I would prefer to have that out of the way before going on with the
2nd page
preparation, but if that is impossible we shall do the next best thing. At any
rate, the opportunity of going with the group, is worth all the risk involved, and
I am very willing to take the slight chance that I may be found not physically fit.
Thank you for the very helpful suggestions you send.
I shall immediately made application for the passport. I have my birth
certificate on hand.
Sincerely yours,
(Signed:) Ida M. Britton,
