C.\nMy dear Miss Noyes:\nMiss Alice L. Buckland, Red Cross Nurse #2596, came in to the\noffice a day or so ago and said she is very anxious to locate her\nbirth affidavit and her father's naturalization papers. She gave\nus the following information regarding them.\nIn preparation for her work in Siberia, it was ncessary for\nher to send a birth affidavit together with her father's\nnaturalization papers to the Bureau of Personnel in Washington,\nD. C.\nIn 1919 when she applied for her passport Mr. George H. Marsh\nwas the Clerk of the U. S. District Court, Portland, Oregon.\nShe has a communication which shows that her credentials were\nmailed on April 19, 1919 from Portland, Oregon.\nShe also has a communication dated April 25, 1919 from Mrs.\nElsbeth H. Vaughan, Acting Director, Bureau of Foreign Nursing\nService, A. R. C., Washington, D. C. confirmed the receipt of\nthe affidavit and the naturalization papers.\nThe address of Miss Buckland while she lived in Portland, was\n1563 E. Stark Street, Portland, Oregon. She was at this address\nuntil she left for Seattle from where she sailed for Siberia in\n1919.\nWe realize that this is very far back in your files and as we told\nMiss Buckland, we are not at all sure that you can locate these\ncredentials for her.\nIf you should wish to write her direct her present address is 478 Central\nPark, West, Apartment 7 C., New York City.
