My dear Mrs. Bunting:-
In your application which is in this of fice you
state that you are married.
It is not our custom to enrol married women for active
service unless we have a definite statement from them that they will
be available when called upon, that their relation to their husbands
and children will not interfere with their assignment to duty, and that
they understand that they will not be assigned to any unit in which their
husbands may engage.
May I call your attention to the other forms of service
in your own locality for which you may enrol: namely, committee work,
the work of instruction Of classes in Elementary Hygiene and Home Care
of the Sick, and the Town and Country Nursing Service. If you are in-
terested in any of these forms of activity and there is a request for you,
your application will be considered.
