Miss Bush graduated from the Chester County Hospital School of Nursing,
West Chester, Pennsylvania, in 1913. Her experience following graduation

1915-17 Asst. Supt., East 55th St. Hospital, Cleveland, Ohio
1917-18 Industrial nursing, Cleveland, Ohio
For the last four or five years she has served as chief nurse, Division
of Public Health Nursing, ohio State Department of Health, in Columbus.
The records indicate that Miss Bush has had two years of college and has
her cettificate in public health. She taught school before graduating
from her school of Nursing.
You may be interested in the following excerpts from letters dated many
years ago.
"Miss Bush first/served under the Red Cross during the war. She
was in France and was released from war service with the following
efficiency report - health, efficiency, adaptability, reliability
-
good. Miss Alice Fitzgerald in one of her reports speaks in high
terms of the service rendered by Miss Bush while in France.
"She has also served as Red Cross public health nurse in Clarion
County, Pennsylvsnia. There is no record of this service in her
folder filed at national headquarters." (The date of this letter
is April 16, 1923)
In the same month in the same year the following was written to Miss
Elmira W. Bears, American Child Health Association, 370 Seventh Avenue, N
New York City -
"Miss Fox asked me to reply to your letter of April 13 regarding
Miss S. Gertrude Bush and to say that her servicer in Clarion
County was distinctive from the viewpoint of organization. Miss
Bush did succeed in making public health nursing popular and
building up an organization which was alive, interested and did
function. She lacked, however, the ability to carry out the super-
vision of her nurses regarding technicalities and details of their

work.
