Ida 7. Butler
December 14, 1938
At the meeting of the National Committee on
Red Cross Nursing Service, held at National Headquarters
on December 6, 1938, the following resolution was passed.
It was moved by Mrs. Mary Hickey, seconded by Mrs. Alma
Scott and unanimously carried that this resolution be
written into the minutes of the meeting and that a copy
be sent to Miss Butler.
The members of the National Committee on Red
Cross Nursing Service heartily missed Ida Butler at
the meeting held on December 6, 1938. To many, it
was the first national meeting without her personal
thought for the welfare and comfort of each member.
For nimeteen years she has feithfully and with dignity
carried a heavy burden of responsibility. She has
been true to tradition and devoted end faithful in
her daily work. She has submerged herself for the
sake of a cause in which she believed with her whole
heart - the cause of the American Red Cross. To her
goes grateful recognition from each member of this
National Committee, speaking as it does for the nurses
of America, of her able accomplishment in line of duty.
To her goes hearty congretulations on a retirement
while still so useful and valuable to her friends and
her community; congratulations upon attaining a certain
degree of leisure which will still permit her colleagues
to make demands upon her wealth of experience. The
members of the National Committee wish to record their
high regard for and thanks to Miss Butler and to let her
know of this formal action taken on December 6, 1938.
