November 12,1940 Dear Miss Butler: It was a great pleasure to have you here, and also a very real help. I regretted that there was not a moment which was not filled with some exacting engagement which could not be broken, for I am sure it would be helpful if there could ever be time for you to tell me fully about the New England situation. I made a great effort last year, as you remember, to go up to Connecticut instead of going anywhere else, especially so that there night be this opportunity to talk with you, and your plans had to be altered at the last moment so that I did not see you at all. I felt that that journey was almost entirely a futile one. However, we cannot help these things and must just h hope for better luck some other time. I am so happy that you were here. Sincerely, Mary Beard Director, Nursing Service Miss Ida F. Butler 7 South Highland Street West Hartford, Connecticut
