I regretted that there was\nnot a moment which was not filled with some exacting\nengagement which could not be broken, for I am sure\nit would be helpful if there could ever be time for\nyou to tell me fully about the New England situation.\nI made a great effort last year, as you remember,\nto go up to Connecticut instead of going anywhere else,\nespecially so that there night be this opportunity to\ntalk with you, and your plans had to be altered at the\nlast moment so that I did not see you at all. I felt\nthat that journey was almost entirely a futile one.\nHowever, we cannot help these things and must just h\nhope for better luck some other time.
