    "ocrText": "August 4, 1943\nAIR MAIL - REGISTERED\nMrs. Mary Young Calden\n% Mrs. Helen Edwardsen\n40 Lexington Street\nNewark, New Jersey\nMy dear Mrs. Calden:\nWe are enclosing a check for three hundred dollars ($300.00)\nto cover your expenses for travel and maintenance. Please note the\nenclosed instructions concerning funds for traveling expenses very\ncarefully. It is necessary to keep all receipts, stubs, etc., while\ntraveling as well as a detailed record of daily expenses. These are\nto be submitted to the Office of Civilian Defense in Hawaii in order\nto obtain the travel reimbursement from that office.\nEnclosed please find the following:\n1. Advance check for $300.00\n2. Instructions - Re: Funds for travel\n3. Reimbursement agreements\n4. Record of traveler's checks\nWe shall expect you to arrange to arrive in San Francisco by\nSeptember 1, 1943, unless we hear from you to the contrary. Please re-\nport to Hotel Bellevue in San Francisco. Be sure to see that all forms\nwhich are to be returned to this office (viz. one immunization register,\none reimbursement agreement, record of traveler's checks) are in the mail\nbefore you leave the Mainland.\nSincerely yours,\n(Mrs.) George T.
