MAR 171943 It. 3 Ny dear Miss DuShane: Your physical has been approved by our Red Cross medical ad- visor, and we are now in a position to offer you an appointnent as Staff D Nurse with one of the civilia mergency hospitals in the Hawaiian Islinds, which is under the jurisdiction of the Emergency Meqieal and Hospital Ser- u vice of the Torritorial Office of Civilien Defense in the Territory of Haweii. This position carries the salary of 6112.50 per month, including S full maintenance and the luandering of your uniforms. Your salury will also the termas of your employment with the Office of Givilion Defense, in shan 5 start from the time you take your Oath of Office in Sen Francisco, as will accordance with the employment regulations enclosed. As you havenoted, we have Advised you to take your own hospi- e tal cape. However, se shall supply you with three Red Cross caps and eignt Red Cross insigna to be worn on your miforms. These are now b ing sent from our Supply Department and should recen you within a short time. This equipment is in the form of a loan and you will be expeeted to return it to this office whenever you terminate your service there. The required immunizations are smallpox, triple typhoid and tetanus toxoid. If you have not been vaccinated for smollpox within the past year, a repeat vecination is advised. As both the tetunus and typhoid inocul tions are gives in a series covering several weeks, you will need to stirt titese at once. If your imfunizations are not completed before you leave home, arrange to take the medication with you, and if an inoculation cones due while you are in San Francisco, please get in touch with Miss ladyce Badger, Civic Auditorium, Larkin & urove Streets, vho is in charge ofour Pacific Area Office, and who will make arrangements for this to be given. Enclosed are duplicate immunization foras. one is to be returned to this office, the other you will keep with you at all times. In ease your inoculations have not been completed before you leave the M inland, please return one immunization register to this office, indiciting the time that the series will have been completed.
