My dear Miss DuShanes
Now that some of your credentials have been returned we are in
a
position to definitely consider your application for civilian nursing
service in Hawaii. Your appointment depends, of course, upon your present
I
physical fitness for foreign service. Therefors, I am referring you to
Dr. Richard A. Burke, Negaunee, Michigan, for this physical examination.
u
We are also communicating with Dr. Burke, advising him that you will report
S
within a short time. Will you please, therefore, take the responsibility of
getting in touch with Dr. Burke, upon receipt of this letter, to make an
5
ap ointment. Dr. Burke has been advised that the American Red Cross will
assume whatever expense is involved for the examination. Your toeth should
be in good condition so that you will not be in need of any immediate dental
work.
As soon as the report of your physical examination has been
returned to this office we will advise you of the decision of our Red Cross
medical examiner concerning your physical fitness for service.
Sincerely yours,
(Mrs.) Ernestine B. Amick
Assistant to Director
Nursing Service
